Maui Day #9

We just can't get enough of Aloha Mixed Plate…breakfast again this morning.
Then we were off to Ho'okipa to look for the sea turtles at their now well documented rest area.  We've  been here several times in the past to watch the windsurfers, but never knew about the turtles.
One by one, they would come up on shore, take a little rest and then turn back around towards the water.
We probably saw 10-12 over the hour we were there.  I could have spent hours and committed to come back with chairs and umbrellas another day.  So peaceful and mesmorizing!
On our drive up to Makawao, we noticed this very vibrant house fence.  If only this was my house!!  We made a 2nd attempt to get stick donuts of Komoda's, but they were all sold out!  I may have almost cried, but settled for an iced latte for our drive back up to Haleakala to watch the sunset.
When we drove up last week for the sunrise, it was dark, windy and rainy.  Today was a very different experience.  It was warm and very clear so we got to see so much more terrain.
The crater had so many different shades of colors and elevations!

We couldn't believe it was 65 degrees and pleasant at 10,000 feet!  We walked around the visitor center and then settled into a great parking spot to watch the sunset from our van.
It was such a peaceful and memorable experience to watch it set from over the clouds!

Stunning!
