Happy Halloween

Our festivities began with a "dress-up" practice on Wednesday night.  Coach even got into the Halloween spirit this year!
Taylor and most of her friends dressed up for school on Halloween day.
 Her ASB group
Her friend, Makoto, dressed like the character from "Up".
After school, McKayla, Summer, Caitlin and Kaylin came over to eat dinner, get ready and trick-or-treat up in Morgan Hill.  They all dressed as different sports players and a referee.
I took Allison and Turbo over to Leslie's to trick-or-treat with Reanna and Zoey...we had a fork, two candy bandits and a Minion.
Along the way, we got a special visit from the Cohen's!  Joey was so cute in his Sully costume and loved holding hands and going up to the doors with the girls!
Since it was a school night, the girls did a quick candy sort and trade before heading home.
Even the teenagers carry on the tradition!

Let's Go Wolfpack!

After 3 weeks, nearly 15 hours of tryouts and lots of stressing, Taylor is a proud member of the Frosh/Soph soccer team at Great Oak!  With so many girls trying out, this was not an easy accomplishment and we are so proud of her effort. She is excited  We will get more details at the first meeting this week and can't wait for some great Wolfpack soccer!
Congrats Taylor!!

Light the Night 5K

The Sheriff's department was putting a team together for this year's CrimeStoppers Light the Night 5K in Balboa Park.
We all received these cool race shirts and everyone had to register as Cops, Robbers or Jaywalkers.
Robbers took off with a 3 minute headstart and then Cops were released to try to catch the Robbers.  If the Cops crossed the finish line with a Robber in handcuffs, they both got "Loot Bags".

Before the race started, we walked around the Expo, visited a lot of law enforcement venues and even saw my boss working the Securitas booth!
Participants were also encouraged to dress up and this guy was my favorite.  He ran all 3 miles carrying a donut box and a donut-filled baton...classic!
The girls ran most of the race through Balboa Park and the adults ran bits and pieces.
We all met up at the finish line to eat a delicious taco dinner and ice cream bar.  The girls braved the haunted prisoner bus and picked up a few last minute freebies.  I think we will make this an annual tradition!

North Mountain XC Invitational

The middle schools were out for another Cross Country meet...this time in San Jacinto.  They loved taking the bus and meeting up with their friends.  The 6th grade girls had the 9:45am race time for the 1.8 mile course.
Allison was hoping to to beat her time from the last meet, but had a rough start and never seemed to recover.
She said she got a cramp during the 2nd half of the race and struggled to pick up her pace.
She finished 67th out of 106 and won't advance to the final meet of the season.  She was a little disappointed, but I'm proud of her effort and am happy she has actually enjoyed running!!

Race For The Cure

 The Hawks girls
 and Legends girls
joined forces for this year's Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Temecula.
It was a gorgeous morning with over 9,000 racers running and walking the 5K for a great cause!
Allison and Reanna took off well ahead of us, but we spotted them as they made their way to the finish.
Taylor and Coral weren't far behind and all of the girls finished around the 35:00 minute mark.
Leslie and I got stuck further in the back and walked the whole course, but were greeted by the girls when we finished at 1:09:00...a fun event!!

VRMS XC Meet

Today was the first meet of the Middle School Cross Country season.  Allison hasn't really been able to train because of her back, but she still wanted to participate in the race.  The first meet was at VRMS so no bus ride for this one!
Lorien, Turbo, Allison and Reagan representing VRMS
 Hawks girls reunited!
The first group up was the 6th grade girls.  128 girls from several schools in the valley raced in this group.
 The starting line
Allison ran her heart out and battled hard in a tough pack of racers.
 Crossing the finish line
Allison finished 43rd out of 129 with a time of 14:28 for 1.86 miles!  She really enjoyed it and hopes to better her time at the next race next week in Hemet.
Congrats to Turbo and Reanna for medaling and to Zoey for finishing just a second behind Allison!  So proud of all of these athletes!!
Matt and I stuck around to watch the 6th grade boys and 7th grade boys and girls.  Our school has some very talented runners and the 7th grade boys were unbelievable...the top two boys finished at 10:30!

Belated Birthday Breakfast

We finally found a day that worked for all 3 of us to celebrate October birthdays.  We had wanted to do a dessert crawl through San Diego, but school pickup got in the way.  Our alternative worked out pretty well though!
We had a delicious breakfast at The Cottage in La Jolla...sharing oatmeal/banana pancakes, french toast and an omelet. Yum!
Then we had some time to walk along Prospect and along the water.  It was a gorgeous day with lots of kayakers and beach goers and some very stinky sea lions and pelicans!
After walking off our breakfast, we drove down the coast and stopped in Pacific Beach for a lunch time dessert at The Baked Bear.  Wendy and I treated ourselves to homemade cookie ice cream sandwiches!  We sat on a park bench overlooking Crystal Pier and enjoyed the perfect view.  Cheers to us turning 39!

GOHS Homecoming

While I was at Allison's soccer game, Taylor's entourage was here helping get her and Madison ready for Homecoming.
A big thank you to Nene and Jenna for their hair and makeup help!
Looking so pretty and all grown up!
The group met at Callaway Winery for pictures before dinner.

 Jacob, Simon, Austin and Christian

McKayla and Taylor have grown pretty close since meeting at the start of the school year.
 So beautiful!
We had a few late stragglers because of soccer and volleyball games, but managed one group picture before taking off for dinner.
I had fun driving them from the winery, to dinner at Claim Jumper and then on to the dance.  The line was around the corner when we got to the school, but moved quickly and they had a great time at the James Bond 007-themed event!
