Maui Day #5

Our crew was up early for a walk along the Kaanapali beach walk.  We parked at Whaler's Village and walked with the beach on one side and all of the resorts on the other.  It was a mix of sunshine and rain showers, which helped calm the heat.
It also created these full rainbows!

After our walk, we met up with rest of the gang for breakfast at Aloha Mixed Plate.  Did I already say I love this place?  Because of the fire, we haven't had cable, phone or internet service since yesterday afternoon.  Can you tell the girls were happy to finally have service?!
Most of us were nursing some sunburns so we took a break from the beach today.  We walked around a craft fair at the community center and then drove down to Lahaina
 for a little shopping.

We stopped at the Banyan Tree and recreated another shot from 2011…love it!  At least Lauren didn't get pooped on this time HA HA!

We shared our  love of Kimo's with Darian and her girls for Happy Hour drinks and appetizers.  I still like their dinner better, but the Hula Pie didn't disappoint.  We ordered 3 and they were gone in what seemed like seconds!

Then it was time for our 2nd attempt to the top of Haleakala.  We loaded the cars with blankets, pillows and snacks and made the 2 hour drive up.  It was a little sketchy doing it in the dark with mist, wind, fog and windy roads.  When we got to the Visitor's Center, we bolted for a quick trip to the bathroom and could barely see a few feet in front of us.  The rain was coming down and it was freezing!  Once we parked at our "camping" spot for the night, the sky had cleared and it made for amazing stargazing.  Too bad it was so cold!  We bundled up in the van, set the alarm for 5:00am and attempted to get some zzz's.  It's all about the adventure, right?
