KWU Letter

Allison received the kindest letter from Coach Kat today!  Personal and hand-written...did I mention she sure knows how to make a girl feel special?

Annie's Getting Big

This sweet girl is growing up!  She has gained about 10 lbs, but still has the sweetest puppy face!
She is best buddies with Kaia, although Kaia seems to often just tolerate her!
She still loves to cuddle, but is certainly gaining her independence.
Her new favorite spot is Dog Beach in Del Mar.  She loves chasing other dogs along the shore and is getting more brave with each visit!

Las Vegas Player's Showcase

Allison and I drove out to Las Vegas for her Player's Showcase tournament.  We did a quick pit stop at the Seven Magic Mountains on the way out.
Such a random display in the middle of nowhere!
We checked into our hotel and the took and Uber to meet Leslie and Larky at The Venetian/Pallazo hotels for dinner.
We also ate the most expensive cookies and cannolis at Carlo's Bake Shop!
The next morning we filled up on the biggest breakfast at Blueberry Hill.  So good!
Allison's game wasn't until 4:00pm, so we spent a few hours touring Red Rock Canyon.

We didn't want to do too much hiking so mostly drove to the route markers along the way to get the best scenic views.
Kat and Heinrich from KWU came to watch Allison play today!  We had a great visit with them after the game and they had the nicest things to say about Allison's play and their interest in her playing at KWU!  They sure know how to make a girl feel special!
We spent the evening at the Fremont Street Experience.
I think it was extra crowded since it was St. Patrick's Day weekend, but we saw things you can't unsee!  What a great people watching venue!
We ate dinner in the Golden Nugget and loved checking out their awesome pool area!  There is a water slide that goes right through this shark tank!
One more game tomorrow and then on the road back home...

Super Bloom

Taylor flew home for her Spring Break week.  Not sure why I didn't capture any pictures from any of our other activities, but I did manage to get a few today.
We had been seeing all kinds of media coverage on the "super bloom" so went to check it out today hoping it wouldn't be busy on a Monday afternoon.
Apparently others had the same idea, but we were able to find parking pretty easily and hiked up the hill to see all of the gorgeous poppies!
Grateful for the abundance of winter rain that led to this amazing display of flowers and shades of orange along the hillsides.

Also grateful for any time I get with this sweet girl!  Our visits always go by way to fast, but I love all we do together!

Boise Day #3

More exploring on our last day in Boise.
Guru Donuts came highly recommended and so we went!
This donut shop is not a chain.  This is it's only location.  So many options from basic cake donuts to fancy flavors and I think it moved up to #1 on my "favorite donut shop" list.
I hate to admit that I ate all 3 of these, but I did over the course of the day...coconut/vanilla, cinnamon sugar twist and drumstick...so good!
I also couldn't leave without trying Dutch Bros.  It was ok, but not sure what all of the hype is about.
We did a quick tour of Boise State as well.
It is a nice campus right along the Boise River, with a great walking/biking trail that runs alongside for miles.
We toured the "smurf turf"
and walked around to see the student union and quad area.
Our last stop was Lucky Peak State Park
with nice views of the Boise River.  I'm sure it is even prettier in the spring and fall, so we look forward to another trip here when we can enjoy even more outdoor activities!  We really enjoyed the little getaway and exploring a new city!
