Day #3 in Paradise

With the sun shining again, we made our way back to Honolua Bay for an early morning snorkel stop. We loved seeing roosters and wild chickens along the path... and spotting really cool trees and tropical plants along the way. The entire beach is rocks so we brought the minimum amount of stuff with us and set it on the rocks while we snorkeled. In past years, we might see a single catamaran stop here to snorkel, but it has since become the hot spot on the island. I think we saw six or seven large boats throughout the morning and those poor people probably spent $70-80 to snorkel in the same spot we found for free!!

The water was as clear as I've ever seen and the snorkeling was spectacular. Leslie and I took Taylor and Lauren out past the anchored boats and spotted a Moray Eel, a Sandfish and several other species we hadn't seen. Taylor and I even spotted a Sea Snake while out with Matt that had Taylor a little freaked out. Although venemous, it was several feet away and more interested in the coral than us. It is a tough spot to get in and out of the water because the rocks are so slippery and towards the end of the morning, Taylor slipped getting out and we think she broke her toe. It was pretty swollen and purple, but it didn't stop her from anything. She couldn't put a fin on the rest of the week, but she did just fine with one.

We all laughed at Hank for walking across half the rocks to get to a more open entrance into the water, but maybe we should have listened to him all along!

We got lunch "to go" at Honolua General Store again and spent the afternoon back at Kapalua Beach. As we sat on the sand, we often saw whale spouts or whales breaching. Leslie caught this great picture of one. In the evening, it was back to Lahaina. The girls were so excited to wear their matching dresses...Taylor and Lauren got these cute ones at Hollister and Allison and Reanna found matching ones at Old Navy.

We had a delicious dinner at Bubba Gump's. I ordered my first seafood dish ever...Bourbon Mahi Mahi with shrimp and mashed potatoes. Yum! We tried to embarrass Poppy, but he was a good sport as the servers sang "Happy Birthday" to him. It wasn't his birthday, but he played along and the girls enjoyed his dessert! I, of course, saved room for another ice cream at Scoop's...I could eat the Coconut Chocolate Macadamia Nut every night!
