Odds and Ends

Things sure are winding down around here. As I walked into each of the girls' classrooms today, it hit me. The walls are bare, desks and chairs are pushed against the walls and little remains from all the work the students have done throughout the year. It was a day for pillows, blankets, popcorn popping and movie watching. Time for some fun.
Allison's class had an Ira Sleeps Over party in their jammies. They brought their bedtime buddies and relaxed the morning away.

Taylor's class got cozy as well and popped popcorn while they watched By The Great Horn Spoon. It was the movie version of the book they have been working on over the last month.

They were looking forward to spending the afternoon having their Book Blazer party. Make-your-own sandwiches, chips, Gatorade and Klondike bars were on the menu. Yummy!
After school, we got the house ready for the end-of-the-year Girl Scout Pool Party. Not exactly an ideal weather day for the event, but we improvised and heated the hot tub. It's usually 100 degrees for the last week of school, but I'm not sure we reached 80 today. That didn't stop the girls from swimming or enjoying their time together, munching on snacks and sharing stories.
Taylor has decided to quit Girl Scouts, so today was bittersweet as we sad goodbye to several friends. We will see them for our Catalina Island trip, but that will be it since many of the kids go to different schools or are moving on to middle school. They are a very diverse group of girls and it has been fun making memories with them over the years!
