Father's Day

This was the 1st official day of our Bay Area vacation and we packed a lot into this Father's Day. We drove with my parents to Muir Woods, a spot Taylor and Matt have been asking to see. The drive in was beautiful-about 100 sailboats sailing in the bay, clear skies and great views of the city. We followed the designated path to tour the breathtaking views of the famous redwood trees. We spent a lot of time with our heads looking straight up. The girls couldn't believe how tall the trees really were! We crossed bridges, took lots of pictures and read the park service signs along the path.

After purchasing some post cards at the gift shop, we all packed back into the car and drove across the Golden Gate for some fun in San Francisco. We saw great views of Alcatraz, Coit Tower and Golden Gate Park.
Crab seems to be one of the girls' new favorite foods, so we made our way to Fisherman's Wharf to feast on a fresh crab. They handpicked their crab and watched the street vendor cut it and crack it for them. Armed with plenty of napkins, a fork and some lemon, we found a place to plop ourselves so the devouring could begin. The $16 crab was consumed in what seemed like 4 minutes. Glad they enjoyed it!

We also stopped at the Boudin Sourdough Bread Factory for a fresh baguette and some drinks. At this store, they sell the sourdough in the shape of turtles, crabs, teddy bears and alligators. We had fun watching the bakers create their masterpieces.

Then we headed to North Beach for an early Father's Day dinner at Capp's Corner. It is a family style Italian restaurant with delicious Minestrone Soup and fabulous entrees and that is certainly what we got. The girls shared a Spumoni with Grandma and Papa before we headed back across the Bay Bridge after a very packed day.

Happy Father's Day to my husband and my dad. It was a nice day spent together. I think Papa will enjoy his gift card to PF Chang's and Matt and I are looking forward to seeing Brian Regan at Pechanga in a few weeks.
