Hawaii Day #5

Today we decided to stay local for the morning since we have an excursion tonight.  We went back to Waialea Beach for a few hours since it has become our new favorite!
We snorkeled right away since the water was so clear and calm.
We immediately found this sea turtle and swam with him for so long!
He fed on the coral and swam all over and got so close to us.  It was a highlight for sure!
Taylor and Jenna made an attempt at the rope swing since they didn't get to try the other day.  Allison showed them how to do it since she looked like a pro!
Let's just say it didn't go very well.  This was probably the best Jenna did (haha) and Taylor slid off of the log and got hurt on her 2nd attempt.  She got a good gash on her shin, a huge bruise on the back of her thigh and cuts on 3 fingers.  No more rope swing!
Then off to Kona for an early dinner at Annie's Burgers.  It came highly recommended and was worth the hype...great customer service and yummy burgers, fries, onion rings and salads!
We spotted another Donkey Balls along the road so stopped to check it out...this time trying the Goat Balls...chocolate covered caramels!
Now for the fun excursion that had the girls all freaked out...night-time snorkel with Manta Rays!
We boarded the Kona Style Catamaran for the sail to Keauhou Bay where the Manta Rays come on on nightly basis.
We changed into wet suits
and listened to some facts about Manta Rays
while we waited for the sun to set.
The bay was filled with other boats doing the same activity.  We put on our snorkel gear, jumped in the water and each held a handle on a surfboard and laid flat in the water to wait for the rays.  Lights shined down from the surfboards so we could see them.
The pictures just don't do this justice.
The creatures are huge and graceful and literally did barrel rolls right up to our chests.
It was an awesome experience and I was so thankful no one in our group got sea sick.  Other groups weren't so lucky!
