Hawaii Day #3

Everyone was up for a day of "adventure" today so Matt and I found this hike to Kiholo Bay in our Hawaii Revealed book.
We parked along the freeway and hiked through lava fields and a desert-like areas about 20 minutes to the beach.  It was hot!  Taylor kept waiting for a zebra or cheetah to appear as if we were in Africa, but we only spotted wild goats that seem to feed all over the island!
Once down to the water, there were pretty tide pools and a black sand beach.

We dropped our stuff off here to do some snorkeling.  It wasn't the best as the salt water meets the fresh water here and creates a silty/glassy look to the water.
We did spot a turtle feeding and followed him for a while.
Jenna has already fallen in love with snorkeling and Hawaii and I'm so glad she joined us!
A little further down the beach was this beautiful lagoon on private property. It was filled with turtles in this very shallow and calm water.
Finally, Kiholo Bay!  It was so pretty.  The entire area is covered in lava rock, including this island surround by the prettiest water.

The snorkeling isn't great here, but it was the perfect spot to just relax in the water!  Black sand lined the entire area.
After a crazy VERY HOT walk back up to the car, we all needed a beach with shade.
Waialea Beach 69 was perfect for that!  We set up our chairs under the trees and jumped right in!
The Lebitski's pulled in within minutes of us getting to the beach so we all hung out for the afternoon.
I attempted and failed at this tiny rope swing along the water!
Poppy took a nap, fed the birds and did his own attempt at the rope swing. The video was hilarious!  Hard to believe he is almost 85!

 We did some snorkeling

 and more photo shoots!
Leslie took Allison and Lauren to this awesome rope swing at the other end of the beach while the other girls napped.
So fun!
We ended the night with a group BBQ by the pool at our condo.  We shared lots of stories, card games and many giggles!
