Thanksgiving in Maui

Aloha! What an amazing vacation. Sure is tough to be back to reality. We took the kids to Maui for their Thanksgiving break. They had been years ago, but this would be the 1st trip that they would remember. We booked our flights back in January and they have been practicing their snorkeling skills in our pool since then. We spent the week at our timeshare in Kahana and had such a memorable time!
I think the highlight was our kayaking trip that took us out into the open ocean. We anchored our kayaks and snorkeled with the sea turtles. We must have seen at least 20! Instead of a traditional Thanksgiving feast, we headed to the Old Lahaina Luau for Kalua pig and turkey and all of the traditional hawaiian side dishes. The girls loved their virgin Lava Flows and the macadamia nut brownies for dessert.
We loved our hiking excursions to the IA'O Valley and the Nakalele Blowhole and enjoyed our dinners at Bubba Gump's, Leilani's, Kimo's, Cheeseburger in Paradise and Maui Tacos. We were sure to leave room for ice cream at Scoops. I love the Coconut Macadamia Chocolate Fudge!
We knew the girls loved the trip because each day Taylor would wake up and say "We only have 6 days left!" She did the countdown all the way to 0 days left. At dinner on Friday night, I asked Allison if she was ready to see her teacher and friends. She burst out in tears saying " I don't want to go home". We all had mini breaksdowns at the table.
We have grown to love so much about Maui in our many trips there and look forward to making more memories as a family.
