Hitting the Slopes

On Monday and Tuesday, we spent much of our day on the slopes. We made the short walk down the village path to the Village Gondola.
Each gondola held 10-15 people and made its way to the Canyon Lodge, one of 5 main lodges at the resort.
The view from the gondola...crazy snow!
Once at Canyon Lodge, there were 3 chair lifts to choose from to start our day. This mountain was so big, we really had to use our trail map all day to remind ourselves of where we were and how to get back to Canyon Lodge. At one point, we had to take 3 different lifts and ski down several different runs just to make our way back for lunch.

On Day 1, I followed Matt and the girls' lead. We spent much of the day on Blue runs, some tougher than others. I was consistently the last one down, but they were all very patient.
Runs were well marked and believe me, I made sure there were no Black Diamonds!

The girls continue to improve with each day of skiing and Matt has been a wonderful teacher. By Day 2, he and Taylor made it up Chair 23 to the peak of the mountain and although scared to death, Matt said she did great!
I preferred staying closer to the ground and had lots of fun with Allison. She amused me by doing lots of green runs at Schoolyard Express. She is ready to advance with Matt and Taylor, but I appreciated her company and she sure felt like an expert!
By Tuesday afternoon, we were all pretty wiped out from two days of skiing, but it was perfect! The lines were short, the runs were pretty empty and we covered a lot of ground in two days.
