PK Shootout

Allison participated in the PK Shootout tonight at TVHS.  It is a fundraiser to support their soccer program.  Unfortunately I couldn't go because of Taylor's ID Camp, but Matt went to cheer them on.
Reanna, Turbo, Eve, Zoey, Allison and Saige were a team.
Allison was the keeper for their team and the other 5 girls took shots.  They won their first game and lost the rest against some much older teams, but had fun in the process!

College ID Camp

Taylor was invited to a 2-day College ID Camp through Legends FC.  I drove her and Lauren up to Jurupa for the first day.
There were approx. 150 girls, divided into 8 groups by their age levels.  There were 8 field stations with 2 college coaches running each station.  The list of coaches was impressive…UCLA, USC, TCU, SMU, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Georgetown, UNC, Arizona State, Louisiana State and a few others.

Taylor made it through the first two 1-hour sessions and then came off the field limping.  I saw her go over to the trainer for ice and evaluation of her groin muscle.
She rested it during lunch, got it taped up and attempted to go back in after lunch.  It didn't hurt to jog, but she couldn't twist her leg to pass the ball.
After about 15 minutes, the trainer determined she strained her abductor muscle in her right thigh and told her to call it quits.
She observed and listened to the last two sessions of the day, but was unable to return for the second day and last 4 sessions.  Luckily, she is only a freshman and can attend next year.  She will sit out of PE and high school soccer this week and hopefully be able to return soon.  Although disappointed, Taylor learned a ton and enjoyed the experience.  I think this will motivate her to continue working hard on her goal to make a college soccer team!

Temecula Valley Shootout Champions!!

For the 2nd weekend in a row, our GU12 Hawks Academy team advanced to the Championship game…this time in the Temecula Valley Shootout.  They defeated Vista Storm 2-1, Irvine Slammers 4-0 and Poway Vaqueros 2-0 to advance to the final.
The girls faced a team from Chandler, AZ and the game was crazy intense! We took a 1-0 lead 10  minutes into the second  half on a beautiful long ball goal from Olivia.  We held them in a back and forth battle to take home the title!
The girls are playing so incredibly well and have won the last 8 games over 2 weekends…scoring 18 goals and only allowing 1.

They are off to a great start in 2014 and now have a few weeks to continue preparing for State Cup!

Best Puppy Ever

We are so in love with our sweet Kaia!
She sleeps great in her crate all night and cuddles in the funniest positions on the couch
or on our lap.
She absolutely loves the dog park and makes a new friend every time we go.
She leaves toys all over the house and gives the best puppy kisses.  We are so lucky to have found her and I think she is pretty lucky too!

League Kickoff

After weeks of practice and a few scrimmages and pre-seaon tournaments, it is finally time to kickoff the league season.
Today was the first home game against Murrieta Valley.
Taylor is the starting left midfielder and continues to proudly wear #8!

She had quite a few nice shots on goal and some pretty feeds to the forwards.  She even came up with a nice cross which led to the 2nd goal and 2-0 victory for the Wolfpack!

Cactus Cup

Allison's team won both games Saturday in the Palm Desert Cactus Cup 3-0 and 2-0!  They were guaranteed to advance to the Championship on Sunday.  Matt and Allison spent the night at the hotel with the team and Taylor, Lauren, Kaia and I drove out Sunday morning to watch the last two games.
This puppy loves the car
and loved being at the field all day!
Our captain shaking hands and doing the coin toss before the game against Palm Desert.  Hawks played beautiful soccer and won 2-0 in their morning game!
They faced Murrieta Surf in the Championship and dominated the game and came away with another 2-0 victory!
The girls took home the Cactus Cup trophy and finished the weekend with 9 goals scored and 0 given up!
So proud of our little keeper…nothing got by her!
 Big smiles all around
and one very proud, crazy coach!
Charlie has worked so hard for these girls and their skill sure showed this weekend!
Proud older sisters cheering on!

Shark Cup

Matt and Allison headed to Palm Desert today for her Cactus Cup tournament and Taylor and I spent the day in Corona for the 2nd half of her Shark Cup tournament.  Last Saturday, they won both games so were sitting in a good position coming into today.  This morning, they won a very physical game 1-0 to advance to the Championship game.
They battled Santiago High School for the championship, but came up short with a  1-0 loss.  Their preseason ended with one tournament win and one 2nd place finish and this group is ready to get league play started on Tuesday!

Goodbye Winter Break

Today is the final day of winter break, although it felt more like summer break!  Allison, Turbo and Zoey spent most of the last few days at Reanna's filming a scary movie and Taylor had a sleepover with Lauren.  They met up with Hannah for manicures this afternoon and then we all met up at Yogurt Island for one final treat.  It was a nice, mellow break for us and a chance for the girls to rest and gear up for Semester 2!

Ice Skating

Rollerskating was so much fun, but these girls love ice skating too!  We have tried to go the outdoor rink in Old Town, but with temps in the 80's, it was just too slushy.  Katy, Leslie and I took the girls to the Ice-o-plex in Escondido for an afternoon in the cold.  It seemed to be the only way to have it feel like winter!
