FC Sol Invitational Champions!!

 Another Hawks season is underway for our U13 girls!  We won the Beach tournament a few weeks ago, but this was our first tournament back on the grass.  This time in San Marcos for the FC Sol Invitational.  It was crazy that our first game Saturday was against our own Hawks White team, which we won pretty easily 4-0.
Our afternoon game was a battle against Scripps Ranch...a fast team that played AA-A last year.  We took an early 2-0 lead, but fell apart in the last 10 minutes, allowing 2 goals for the tie.

Matt had to work Sunday, but luckily our field was on his beat, so he was able to watch both games.  Our first of the morning was against Santee Matrix.  It was a very physical game with too much pushing, tripping, etc. but we came away with a 2-0 victory to take us to the championship!

Tournaments are always the best for team bonding and great time together with the families.  Taylor and Madison are great friends at school and on the field and enjoyed a refreshing Kona Ice after lunch.

Our championship game was a rematch with Scripps Ranch.  Our girls hadn't played their best all weekend...looking a little rusty from a long time off, but they were starting to pull it together this game with some nice passing and shots on goal.  The victory was ours with a 2-1 score.

 This pose is becoming all to familiar to this team, but no one is complaining.  Two for two already this season and hoping it is only a sign of more great things to come!  The only thing changing is that I am either shrinking or this group of girls is growing like weeds!

Taylor had a great weekend overall.  She played all over the field as is really proving herself to be a strong utility player, filling in wherever Coach asks her to play.  More medals for us to hang on the wall!
