The girls and I ventured out early for a morning walk around the city. We started with a walk to the Gateway Arch to buy tickets for midday tour.
The Arch symbolizes the westward expansion of the United States in the 19th century. Today it was buzzing with vendors getting ready for the 4th of July festivities tomorrow.
We walked a few more blocks to the new Busch Stadium.
The girls got a little Cardinal history lesson as we read all of the player plaques surrounding the outside.
Taylor swung like Stan "The Man" Musial
and Allison stretched out like Bob Gibson.
Then it was on to the Citygarden...a 4 block park in the middle of town.
It was starting to warm up so the fountains were the perfect spot to cool off!
We returned back to the hotel and Papa drove us back to the Arch with Grandma for our tour.
Taylor was a little unsure about going up, but we wouldn't have any of it. We boarded these very tight circular elevators for the ride up 630 feet!
From the top, there are 32 viewing windows to look out around the city and beyond. We had gorgeous views of the Mississippi River and spotted
the Old Courthouse,
Edward Jones Stadium (Home of the St. Louis Rams)
and Busch Stadium (Home of the St. Louis Cardinals).
Once back on the ground, we walked down the many steps to the Mississippi River.
The girls put their feet in and watched the stunt planes prepare for the 4th of July festivities.
