We said goodbye to family and Iowa and were back on the road for 3 hours to Chicago! After checking into the hotel, we anxiously walked the 3 blocks to The Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue for an afternoon of eating and shopping.
Our first stops were Forever 21 and the 4 story Crate & Barrel.
My dad told us about Garrett's famous popcorn shop and had to stop there for some delicious kettle corn. The line was out the door, but the popcorn was well worth it!
We continued shopping at Niketown, Top Shop, Guess and many more. I think Taylor would've gone forever!
Although still full from the popcorn, we couldn't pass up a baked s'more at the Hershey Store
and had to get deep dish pizza at Gino's East, as was recommended by many.
Lucky for us, it takes 45 minutes to bake a deep dish, which gave us time to work up an appetite. We had time to write our names on the walls/benches like every patron does. The atmosphere was really cool and the food was even better!
We still had a few hours of daylight, so decided to work off all of our "junk" by walking across town to Millennium Park.
We stayed on Michigan Avenue, walked across the Chicago River and into
Millennium Park.
There was some really cool artwork
and this fantastic open-air theater. A military band was performing a free concert in the park when we walked past.
The "bean" is one of the highlights of the park. It shows the reflection of much of the city skyline and is a spectacular sight to see in the heart of downtown.
We had fun posing and taking pictures of our reflections and people watching as others did the same.
We finished off the evening tour with a walk to Wrigley Square
and the Crown Fountains.
It was starting to get dark and we still had a good mile walk to our hotel, so we didn't stop much on our way back. We had perfect weather all day and packed a lot into 6 hours!
