We absolutely live by the Maui Revealed book when we are here and read great reviews about the stick donuts at Komoda Bakery in Makawao. Makawao is a little cowboy town in upcountry, not along the Road to Hana, but was worth the 15 minute detour!
The bakery is a pretty run down hole-in-the-wall, but the donuts lived up to the hype!
As we made our way along Baldwin Avenue, we spotted this gorgeous Protestant church.Matt thought he was a chicken whisperer!
Further down the road was another gorgeous Catholic Church with beautiful views of Kahului.
Once back on the Hana Highway, we stopped at Ho'okipa Beach to watch the surfersand play in the tide pools.
We made several stops along the way for good photo ops
and some short hikes to beautiful waterfalls.
Our final stop was Keanae Landing for the best banana bread
and some of the most spectacular scenery!
We played in more tide pools and just took in the sound of the crashing waves while we relaxed out of the car for awhile.breathtaking waterfalls. By the time we reached Kahana again, it was raining pretty hard. We decided to order take out pizza and relax in the hot tub while it rained. We certainly made the most of an overcast day!
