Wendy and David drove in from AZ for the long weekend, splitting time between Jen and Carlos' house and ours.
Wendy celebrated a birthday last week and wanted to do a little wine tasting this weekend to keep the celebration going. Jen and Carlos drove up from SD and all of the kids played at our house while we went out for the afternoon. Matt was the designated driver, as we hit some of our favorite spots (not really for the wine, but for the atmosphere!).
We started at South Coast. It was pretty crowded, but they seemed to like the wine. David and Carlos went for more of the reds and ports and Wendy and Jen liked the whites.
Nest stop was Longshadow Ranch. Matt and Carlos got attacked by a horse on the way in!
We loved the barn and David loved the port! Hard to believe Wendy and I have been friends for about 26 birthdays!
Then it was on to Peltzer where these 4 shared a bottle of chardonnay. Matt and I tasted it, but could barely handle a sip...eck! They loved it though. I loved that they served Great Harvest Cinnaburst bread!
The last stop in the wineries was Ponte. It was a packed house with wine tasting, a wedding ceremony and a reception in the barrel room. So many more to tour, but will have to save those for next time. We made one last stop at Ballast Point for the guys to get a beer or two before heading back to the kiddos.
We picked up take out chinese and enjoyed dinner and some rounds of Tripoly before calling it a night. Sounds like the kids had fun playing Wii, building a fort and playing Capture the Flag outside with the neighborhood kids. Only wish we could do this more often, but grateful for our weekend together!!
