Bridge Walk

It was too pretty of a day to be stuck inside doing laundry and chores, so I texted these ladies who always seem up for an adventure!  We decided on the 7 Bridge Walk in San Diego.
We walked through Balboa Park,
and walked across bridges in Banker's Hill,
 (Trestle Bridge)
 (Suspension Bridge)
 though downtown Hillcrest
 and University Heights before
finishing back up off of Park Blvd and the zoo.  It was warm and we worked up quite an appetite after 5 1/2 miles.  The neighborhoods were so cute and the bridges each so different!
We tried to eat breakfast at Snooz, but it had an hour and a half wait.  No thanks!  Chocolat was the perfect consolation choice...bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast with gelato for dessert!
Perfect Sunday!

Varsity Team Pictures

So proud of my keeper girl!  I love this picture of her and am grateful she has had the opportunity to be challenged this season.
She gets to play with a talented, athletic, beautiful and determined group of young ladies and coaches who have brought out the best in her!
They were celebrated at this morning's Winter Rally and have kept a positive attitude even with an
0-5 record in the first half of league.  They were all close games, but tough to win games when we have only scored 1 goal!  Allison kept a clean sheet of no goals against until Wednesday's game against Vista.  She gave up 1 on a corner kick so has given up 1 goal in 5 games.  Well done Keeper!!
On to the 2nd half of league season...

Arizona

We took advantage of the 3 day weekend and made a quick road trip out to AZ to see Wendy, David and the kids.
We also had a chance to meet the newest member of the family...Willow!  As soon as we arrived, we took Matt on a tour of the house and then walked up to the town square to look around.
Parker has lost a few teeth since we last saw him too!
Matt was in heaven when both boys jumped up on the couch to sit with him...so sweet!
Sunday morning we headed out early for a day in Prescott.  It was about a 2 hour drive up to the mountains.  Nolan drove with us and Allison went in their car.
It was such a pretty drive from desert to forest and then spotted just a bit of snow in the parking lot.
Wendy had received recommendations to do the Thumb Butte Trail hike.  Thanks to Parker we took a left at the fork in the trail and went the steep way up...and I mean steep!
We mad many stops to catch our breath and take in the scenery.

Once at the top, we first spotted this memorial for the Yarnell "Hot Shots" who died in the firestorm in 2013.  The fire killed 19 City of Prescott firefighters.  It was a very moving site and we didn't even know about the memorial until we came across it.
We took time for pictures and snacks
I just love that our girls and their boys have such love for each other and will have so many memories from their visits together!
and then went down the mountain the way we probably should have gone up.  Oh well, we will all have tighter booties thanks to Parker's path choice!
A view of Thumb Butte from the bottom of the trail.

One last step in the snow
 before driving to downtown Prescott.
We had a nice warm lunch at Prescott Brewing Co and ice cream at Marino's just before it started to rain.  Perfect timing!
We were back down to their house with plenty of time to watch the Steelers beat the Chiefs!
Taylor and Parker built a fort under the pool table and played rounds and rounds of games!
A few more games Monday morning while the adults
walked down to Verrado Coffee Co.  We sure love our time with Wendy, David and the boys and are grateful that we will get to see them next month in Temecula!

Ski Day

Taylor worked pretty hard to break us down and let her play hooky from school for a ski day with Andrew and Karla.  He will be returning to Kansas next week for 2nd semester, so we finally agreed. They had perfect weather and a wonderful day on the slopes!

Happy 18th Lauren!

Lauren turned 18 yesterday and I just can't believe it!  We met her in U10 All-stars and now she is an adult getting ready to head off for college.
I love her so much and we had a nice time celebrating at Goat&Vine tonight.  She is beautiful on the inside and out and I can't wait to see where life takes her!!

SD Getaway

One of my favorite views!  We have gotten used to this with our annual stay at the Hilton Bayfront.  This time Matt and I snuck away for the night and had a corner room...a view of the bay from one window
and a view of downtown from the other!
We checked into the hotel and then walked into the Gaslamp to have dinner at watch the KU game before meeting up with friends and co-workers.
We had the most delicious meal at Barley and Mash.  I got the pulled pork mac n' cheese!!
After dinner, we walked to Moonshine Flats to try and get a table before everyone began to arrive.  What a cool place!  It is a fun country bar with loud music, tons of tvs, ping pong, a pool table, corn hole, beer pong and a concert venue.  Matt organized the event to congratulate Josh on his promotion to Sergeant and a nice showing of friends helped make it a special night for him!
There was no shortage of drinks coming his way, but he seemed to handle it alright.  I really enjoyed the time away with Matt and loved listening to work stories and seeing the respect they all have for each other!

Making this walk back to the hotel was such a good idea versus having to make the hour drive home tonight.
Even better was waking up and taking a nice long stroll along the bay and getting breakfast at Seaport Village before heading back home...
