We were up early yesterday and spent most of the day flying to Chicago and then driving 3 hours to DeWitt.
Before checking in to the hotel, we stopped by Grandma's house to say hi. We were happy to see my parents there, along with Brian and Kathy with Keri and Lucas and Chris and Aimee with Zach and Merritt. We visited for a while the kids played in the backyard.
This morning we stopped back at Grandma's before heading to Bethany's bridal shower. Merritt and Grandma both looked so pretty in pink!
Some of Bethany's aunts threw the shower at the United Methodist Church in town. The bride-to-be looked so pretty and relaxed.
All of the ladies attended the shower while the guys went golfing. Matt went out to lunch with my Dad and Zach since his neck isn't quite ready for the golf course yet.
Bethany was showered with lots of wonderful Williams Sonoma kitchen items and joked she will have to learn how to use most of them.
All of us had fun passing Baby Oliver around. Taylor and I couldn't believe how much he has grown since we saw him in March!
The girls also enjoyed their time with Merritt and all things girly.
After the shower, we met back at Grandma's and went for a nice walk through town. We stopped at the water tower, played at the park and got drinks at Barnes Foodland.
Taylor wanted to practice driving so we took advantage and enjoyed being chaffered around all afternoon. Allison stayed at the house and chatted with Grandma and helped around her house…pulling weeds and watering her plants. Our first stop was for a drink at Springbrook. The weather was perfect to sit on the patio and just take in the greenery.
Then we went out to Crystal Lake. Only 24 homes line this beautiful lake and it just a perfect backdrop. My Uncle Bill has a house out here, but I couldn't remember which one it was while we were out touring.
The corn stalks were absolutely huge this trip and just so pretty.
Matt spent much of the afternoon online looking for property!
Then it was out to my Uncle Mike's for a little get together.
This is the view from their backyard!! It is just perfect and so peaceful as the wind blows through it.
We all just love it here!
The kids all had a great time hanging out and just being kids with old fashioned fun. Allison and Cooper were best buds and they all loved playing Red Light, Green Light, lighting fireworks, catching lightning bugs and playing tag in the corn stalks.

It was a perfect night being together with so much of our family. I only wish we could do it more often!
