Taylor was invited to a 2-day College ID Camp through Legends FC. I drove her and Lauren up to Jurupa for the first day.
There were approx. 150 girls, divided into 8 groups by their age levels. There were 8 field stations with 2 college coaches running each station. The list of coaches was impressive…UCLA, USC, TCU, SMU, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Georgetown, UNC, Arizona State, Louisiana State and a few others.
Taylor made it through the first two 1-hour sessions and then came off the field limping. I saw her go over to the trainer for ice and evaluation of her groin muscle.
She rested it during lunch, got it taped up and attempted to go back in after lunch. It didn't hurt to jog, but she couldn't twist her leg to pass the ball.
After about 15 minutes, the trainer determined she strained her abductor muscle in her right thigh and told her to call it quits.
She observed and listened to the last two sessions of the day, but was unable to return for the second day and last 4 sessions. Luckily, she is only a freshman and can attend next year. She will sit out of PE and high school soccer this week and hopefully be able to return soon. Although disappointed, Taylor learned a ton and enjoyed the experience. I think this will motivate her to continue working hard on her goal to make a college soccer team!
